Internet Safety PSA
Child Abuse PSA
Splode PSA
I've always loved this PSA a so i thought id post it. It so goofy and fun and then it turns very serious very quick. It's one of the only PSAs I've looked at that are about something totally different than the video, and i love that. The videography is great and the typography is extremely simple but more powerful than any other typography I've seen. This is a good, classic PSA, one we should learn from!
Cooties PSA
Stay In School PSA
Its so 90's! I love it. The video really isn't that bad either. The camera cuts are good, and its a pretty strong message. The typography at the end was terrible, it its the 90's, what are ya gonna do?
Funny Autocorrect PSA
This was hilarious. "Can't you just turn it off?" "No! I need it... and i don't know how." The black and white made it ironically funny and the script for each character was perfect. I wished they picked a less cliche song for the background but, nevertheless, it was creative, unique, and funny. Nicely done.

Video Self Portrait
This self portrait isn't bad. But it could use some work. It definitely tells me all about her interests which is the point of a self portrait video, and the idea was very strong. But some of the cinematography could use some help. the shots are a little boring and get very repetitive by the end of the video. All in all however, it was a good idea and she pulled it off fairly well. This was done by a former Carroll Community student Jennifer.
Self Portrait Video 2009 HD
This self portrait video was terrible. The only thing i got from it is that he is a college student from New York City. A bunch of random, sped up shots of him either walking or biking, him at a party and walking into dorms... It had no point or summary. The only good thing to say is some of the shots were pretty creative and unique. This was a college piece and the name of the student was not listed.
Monsters PSA
This is extremely creepy, but very powerful and really delivers the message in an "in your face" kind of way. I love how it start very innocent, but the music is somewhat eerie, and then it slowly gets worse and worse as we start to see the "monsters" and the music gets more and more scary. Some of the transistions could use a little work but other that that the video is great. This was put on by the Fragile Childhood Association.
Worksafe Ads - Bakery.flv
This is a PSA put on by WorkSafe. It uses the scarcity, gruesome factor to push the message of asking for help at work to be safe. It's pretty well done. The whole video is very calm and has clean camera shots until the worker chops off her fingers. Then it gets very frantic and scary. Very Well done. Unique tactic to draw attention. Different but effective.
Ad Council Global Warming Ad
This global warming PSA is from the Robertson foundation and the Ad council. It is a greatly powerful PSA and really hits home. The quick camera cuts really add to the intensity and i love how the color is gray scaled. You can tell this is a professional PSA. Its very Well done.
An Apple A Day... (A PSA On Anorexia)
This PSA wasn't very good either. Was this a commercial for apples or Anorexia? Because i could barely tell. The filmography made no sense. It was a strong idea to play on that famous health rhyme but they did not pull it off well at all. This was another student piece, but the names were not listed anywhere
Suicide Prevention PSA - Save a Friend, Before you Lose one
No the strongest PSA. You can definitely tell it was a student work by the terrible acting and weak camera angles. all the shots are a little long meaning there is no way this video needs to be almost 3 minutes. it could easily be cut down to 1:30 or 2:00 and it would make the piece a lot less boring. Not awful, but could defintly use some love. This was created by two students, Ryan Shaefer and Jackie Ceballos.
Daydreaming Self Portrait
I don't see how this is a self portrait, but either way it was pretty awful. The blue screen keying was terrible and you could see the blue lines on her face and arms. The videography was super shaky and weak. some creative shots at the beginning but weak overall.
EMS Text Alert PSA
This is a unique PSA. It is more of an advertisement for the next emergency alerts that are wired into next generation phones. I love the powerful images of the safety elements we use and trust everyday. It tied in very with the shot of the family running into the bunker. Very well done.
Speechless PSA
This PSA was literally incredible. It gave me chills it was so powerful. So creative and unique the way they broke all the insults and the negatives, and using the mentally challenged person as the narrator just made it so much more powerful. Great PSA for treating mentally challenged people fairly and equally.
1 is 2 Many PSA: 60 Second
Obama?! That's impressive! Another example of how powerful words can be. I hate that its nothing but celebrities, but i love how powerfully simple it is. A good, simple PSA.
Ban Bossy — I'm Not Bossy. I'm the Boss.
I like this PSA a lot. Every PSA doesn't have to be super dramatic and about death and killing. This is a strong point that matters t someone. However, the only real aspect to this PSA is the celebrity endorsement. Other than that its just some text and a simple radial gradient, mixed with celebrities talking. Simple, but powerful. Its a great thing.
Tom Brady Can't Get A High-Five PSA
Super cliche, but it was pretty funny. I like the slow emotional fade into the text and each picture. The typography is actually pretty strong for a random funny video. I wish you couldn't see the edges of the photos and they would be a little more clean. But overall its not bad for a humorous slideshow PSA.
Empty Seat PSA
This is incredibly moving and very powerful. The message they are trying to get across about the high rate of teen suicide is so strong and really well done. The video transitions are so well done and clean, and the slow pan in each shot really adds to the emotion of the video. I do not like the typography in the middle of the video. Its no placed well i don't think. Overall, Great.

One love PSA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7U__fvlf58&feature=youtube_gdata_player
This PSA is good but not great. Its a fantastic idea for a video but it could use a little love. The lighting and effects on the video make it seems very bright and happy... yet the woman is getting beaten. And after the first scene it goes down hill and really looses my attention. The scene with the phone goes on a little too long and i dont like how she chucks he phone at the glass to stop the voilence. They could have come up with something better there. But all in all its not bad. Just a bit weaker then a psa needs to be.
No kid hungry PSA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RUYkzJio24&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I love this PSA. Its very simple yet very powerful. Like how the narrator is saying with the children's cardboard signs say. I also love the continuity of how the children hold the apple and then the apple fades into the logo. Finally the visual effect, like the black and white hue on the footage of the kids give a very sad effect. Very well done peice! Simple but effective.

Simple Rotoscoping
I like this one. The tracing and animation is on point and i like the scratchy shadowing. It is very short but the animation is fun and eye catching and flows really well together. Their are a few frames in there that are missing a hand or a foot or some things like that are out of place. But its good overall. B+
Reality of Rotoscoping
Animals Rotoscoped
Extremely Clean Rotosoping
This is the kind of animation or rotoscoping i love to see. It isn't just random bits of animation. It has a plot and a purpose and really draws you and and makes you want to see what happens next. Plus the cliff hanger is genius. Does he let go?!? We will never know. Anyway, the animation itself is incredible. It has to be at least 30 fps because it is so liquid and clean. I also love how the doppelganger is static and blurry and somewhat evil. The whole animation is very well done and very creative. Great plot and story as well.
Movie Scenes Rotoscoped
Rotoscoped Gangnam Style
This is one of my favorite rotoscoped videos I've seen. Can't stand the song, but the animations are very unique and fun. It was done by an entire college graphics class. But i love how in the beginning each frame has a different background and and different animation style. It give an extremely interesting effect, on the video. It feels like a party or a rave which is what the video and song are suppose to sound like. Very well done overall. Interesting and visually attractive.
Fully Animated Rotoscope
This was fun! Very entertaining to see the guy learn to shuffle! The background animations are good but i think it would have given a cooler effect of the cars and the concrete were left unanimated and given a nice effect like a glow and a distort. It would have made the dancers stand out more and be more appealing. But all in all, the video was well done and fun to watch.
Rotoscoping
This is just a basic student rotoscoped animation. a simple character with simple movements. No real point or plot, and random effects. However, the animations are actually really good. Clean movements. I like how he animated the movement on the clothing. It really makes the animation look clean and precise. I just wish the character actually did something interesting instead of just walking around and holding up a random picture frame.
Rotoscoping Background Replacement
This is a dramatic new twist on rotoscoping. It proves that it doesn't have to be cartoon-like and animated. Rotoscoping can be changing the backgrounds to look totally different from the original scene. This really caught me by surprise and gave me a while new insight on the possibilities or rotoscoping a scene. Very interesting and very good to know.
Hand Drawn Rotoscoping
Cool idea. No super impressed. Have the video was just a strum repeating, but the idea of the drawing drawing a guitar and playing it was pretty cool. The ending was pretty weak. But overall the animation was very clean and not too jumpy. Not bad, but lacked the creativity.

Street War
This is a non-professional rotoscope animation done by Joe Redifer. Honestly, it was very cheesy and cliche, but i found it to be really entertaining and kind of enjoyed it. The weapon animations were a great idea. and i love the simple black and white. I looks good and it was probably a lot easier to animate. (I wish i did back and white...) It just looks like a student work or something done for fun, which is exactly what it is. It not the best and could use a few transition fixes, but overall, it is entertaining and simple, which is all rotoscoping needs to be.

Charles Schwab commercial
this is one of the infamous Charles Schwab rotoscoped commercials. Dont ask me why an investment agency was one of the first in the industry to utilized this, but it sure worked for them. The animation in this example is beyond incredible and way beyond the time restraints we have for project 2, but I just wanted to take a look at a professional rotoscoping job. Its so seemless and flawless, the way every shadow and wrinkle is highlighted and animated and each frame flows perfectly into the next. Great work!
Unnatural - Rotoscope
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgKc6LMDCQA&feature=youtube_gdata_player
This is another amateur rotoscope animation. The animation and acting is great. We really feel the mood from the facial expressions and the camera angles. the potential is there for a great plot but the ending was confusing and made no sense. Again, I picked this video because I am rotoscoping for project 2.
Amateur Rotoscoping
This is a simple rotoscoping film created by a young youtuber. The film just plays into some interesting ideas and tools that rotoscoping can involve. There was no real plot, but the video was actually very very well animated and was fairly interesting. It would be nice to see more of a plot or a point but it was entertaining nevertheless. I choose to critique this video because we are rotoscoping for project 2.

Another religious kinetic type
I don't know why but I really love these religious, poetry kinetic type videos. This is another one from duck rabbit studios. The timing and the motion of the type is impeccable, as well as the creative and unique ways they animate the text with different graphics. Its so hard to find kinetic type that doesn't have either words or a song in the background. Kinetic type without words or music is really rare from what i can find. Anyway, I'm becoming a big fan of this animation studio, and hopefully i will keep stumbling upon their work.
Powerful, religious kinetic type
This is an extremely powerful and strong kinetic type video. Although its not our exact project specifications for project 1, the video was done so well i had to post it. The spoken poem mixed with the high quality animations and perfect choices for typography made the video flawless. Well done. The video was made by duck rabbit studios. They are a fairly prestigious film and animation company. They have done work for several huge companies like Coca Cola, Puma, Doritos, and Converse. I really enjoy their work, especially this one. Well done.

Voiceless Kinetic Type Video
Although this video uses a lot of video and motion graphic elements, i decided to post it because the timing of the text is perfect, and that is an element i am having trouble grasping. It gives you just enough time to read it and let it sink in before it fades away in smoke. Fantastic, unique Kinetic type video. It was created by Rick Thompson, who has a huge majority if kinetic type videos and they are all very well done.

Relatable Kinetic Type Video
The above link is a decent kinetic typography video. It doesn't have extremely good effects, but its at the level that I believe I can produce. Plus, it is text only, which is the same restrictions we have for project one, which is why I choose it. The video is actually very well done and well organized. It emits the emotion that the audio is expressing, plus, the creator uses the text in a great way. For example, when he uses the text to create a hockey stick and a hockey goal. The creator of the video is Jonah Saesan, who is a student with a kinetic type assignment, which gives me inspiration because he is in the same spot that I am.

Example of Kinetic Type: "The Alphabet" by Alessandro Novelli
The Link above is a video I found of a marvelous and beautiful example of kinetic type. The video is simply an animation of the whole alphabet, letters A through Z, and each letter is shown by a different font that starts with that letter. Sounds boring, but it is truly beautiful and had my unbroken attention the entire time. Each letter flows seamlessly into the next by using liquid-like transitions. The video has great flow and never seems to pause. It seems to be animated by hand which is even more incredible. Plus, I love the vintage, classic style of the video, but that's just me. The video was created by the founder and director of the design studio "n9ve," Alessandro Novelli. He is known for his work in "Passion of the Christ," and "Pride and Prejudice." He is mostly a stunt performer and stunt coordinator, but he does work as a director and designer. Finally, this video relates to our first class project because it is a great example of text-only kinetic type and shows the beauty of typography and fonts as a whole.
