Simple Rotoscoping

I like this one. The tracing and animation is on point and i like the scratchy shadowing. It is very short but the animation is fun and eye catching and flows really well together. Their are a few frames in there that are missing a hand or a foot or some things like that are out of place. But its good overall. B+

Reality of Rotoscoping

60 hours in 20 seconds... sounds like my life right now. Its so simple. Its almost too simple, to the extent that i dont believe this took 60 hours. After the first couple seconds it is just all repeating movements. Unless they actually animated every one of those repeated movements. And if so, their an idiot. Not a fan though. The animation is very well done but there is just no spark to draw you in and no purpose. and why is the paper on the ground? cool idea but not very well utilized.

Animals Rotoscoped

I absolutely love this video. There is so much going on and the animation is so impressive it just kept my attention and pulled me in more and more as the video went on. I love that they completely look out the background and just replaced it with a faded color to match the animation. It was a time saver i'm sure, but it also looks good. Very different and difficult  idea to animate live animals, but they pulled it off so well, and each individual scene is very well done. Just a joy to watch.

Extremely Clean Rotosoping

This is the kind of animation or rotoscoping i love to see. It isn't just random bits of animation. It has a plot and a purpose and really draws you and and makes you want to see what happens next.  Plus the cliff hanger is genius. Does he let go?!?  We will never know. Anyway, the animation itself is incredible. It has to be at least 30 fps because it is so liquid and clean. I also love how the doppelganger is static and blurry and somewhat evil. The whole animation is very well done and very creative. Great plot and story as well.

Movie Scenes Rotoscoped

This is cool. Some of the scenes could use a lot more frames per second because they are very jumpy and somewhat confusing, but it was a great idea to recreate these famous scenes. It gives the we known hollywood content a cool retro look. Great idea. Could use some better execution of a few of the scenes.

Rotoscoped Gangnam Style

This is one of my favorite rotoscoped videos I've seen. Can't stand the song, but the animations are very unique and fun. It was done by an entire college graphics class. But i love how in the beginning each frame has a different background and and different animation style. It give an extremely interesting effect, on the video. It feels like a party or a rave which is what the video and song are suppose to sound like. Very well done overall. Interesting and visually attractive.

Fully Animated Rotoscope

This was fun! Very entertaining to see the guy learn to shuffle! The background animations are good but i think it would have given a cooler effect of the cars and the concrete were left unanimated and given a nice effect like a glow and a distort. It would have made the dancers stand out more and be more appealing. But all in all, the video was well done and fun to watch.

Rotoscoping Time Trick

Use black and white

Charles Schwab Commercial Uses Rotoscoping

Rotoscoping

This is just a basic student rotoscoped animation. a simple character with simple movements. No real point or plot, and random effects. However, the animations are actually really good. Clean movements. I like how he animated the movement on the clothing. It really makes the animation look clean and precise.  I just wish the character actually did something interesting instead of just walking around and holding up a random picture frame.

Rotoscoping Background Replacement

This is a dramatic new twist on rotoscoping. It proves that it doesn't have to be cartoon-like and animated. Rotoscoping can be changing the backgrounds to look totally different from the original scene. This really caught me by surprise and gave me a while new insight on the possibilities or rotoscoping a scene. Very interesting and very good to know.

Hand Drawn Rotoscoping

Cool idea. No super impressed. Have the video was just a strum repeating, but the idea of the drawing drawing a guitar and playing it was pretty cool. The ending was pretty weak. But overall the animation was very clean and not too jumpy. Not bad, but lacked the creativity.

Street War

This is a non-professional rotoscope animation done by Joe Redifer. Honestly, it was very cheesy and cliche, but i found it to be really entertaining and kind of enjoyed it. The weapon animations were a great idea. and i love the simple black and white. I looks good and it was probably a lot easier to animate. (I wish i did back and white...) It just looks like a student work or something done for fun, which is exactly what it is. It not the best and could use a few transition fixes, but overall, it is entertaining and simple, which is all rotoscoping needs to be.

Ukulele Scene from Waking Life

This was probably my favorite scene it waking life. The animation is so perfect for the mood of the scene. The heavy colors and realistic animation approach was done so well. I could watch this clip over and over again. It makes you think, and the simple ukulele riff gives this simplistic, child-like vibe to the scene, which sarcastically contradicts the seriousness of what the character is saying. The scene is genius and, above all else, animated extremely well. Every finger movement, and strumming pattern is animated to perfection. Very entertaining and very well done.

Waking Life

Poor Rotoscoping

This was a scene I found from Waking Life. The scene is a group of men, seemingly reading some sort of quote or speech. I am not familiar with the words, but it seems like it is being read, not something thought up like most of the rest of the movie. So, I really don't like this scene, plain and simple. For starters it is just animated very lazily. This is a perfect example of biting off more than you can chew by trying to animated the background. It ended up just looking like scribbled garbage, which is some rotoscoping cases actually looks good, but because of the was the scenes are shot and colored, it distracts me from the main characters and ruins the video. The animated tried to make the scene look realistic, which is why the scribbled, random movements DO NOT work.

Spanish Rap for solo part in project 2

This is the other song i found for my video for project 2. In a segment of my video, I start soloing on the guitar and this Spanish rap song was perfect for the part. It is a Spanish woman rap/singing a cappella, and i think i can get it to fit very well with the video. It took forever to find, but the quick lyrics and lack of rhythm or tempo was exactly the sound i was looking for. I think this segment will really aid my video and make it somewhat humorous at the same time.

French song for project 2

I found this great a cappella french song that fits well with my video so I thought I would post it. In one part of my rotoscope video for project 2, I am strumming the guitar with a steady beat and keeping tempo with my hand, and this song has a great vocal rhythm and matches my hand movements very well, which is exactly what i needed. It is also very obviously french singers and the song gives of that cliche romantic french sound, which again, is perfect for that segment of my video. The only part I'm using is the very beginning of the first verse. I like the easy going beat and the style of the singing. I think it will really look like I am playing this song, and the song will compliment my video well.

Charles Schwab commercial

Rotoscope Commercial

this is one of the infamous Charles Schwab rotoscoped commercials. Dont ask me why an investment agency was one of the first in the industry to utilized this, but it sure worked for them. The animation in this example is beyond incredible and way beyond the time restraints we have for project 2, but I just wanted to take a look at a professional rotoscoping job. Its so seemless and flawless, the way every shadow and wrinkle is highlighted and animated and each frame flows perfectly into the next. Great work!

Unnatural - Rotoscope

This is another amateur rotoscope animation. The animation and acting is great. We really feel the mood from the facial expressions and the camera angles. the potential is there for a great plot but the ending was confusing and made no sense. Again, I picked this video because I am rotoscoping for project 2.

Amateur Rotoscoping

http://youtu.be/GYsZB3AqGiI

This is a simple rotoscoping film created by a young youtuber. The film just plays into some interesting ideas and tools that rotoscoping can involve.  There was no real plot, but the video was actually very very well animated and was fairly interesting. It would be nice to see more of a plot or a point but it was entertaining nevertheless.  I choose to critique this video because we are rotoscoping for project 2.
